While many common insecurities around our appearance such as acne, skin ageing or pigmentation, can be improved with makeup, skincare and lifestyle changes, one thing that we can’t easily change is our face shape and structure. For many years, the only option for individuals struggling with insecurity around the shape & <structure of their face was surgical intervention. This, of course, is a very complex process and out of reach for most people.
Fortunately, with the popularity of non-surgical procedures rising, we can now help to enhance the structure and shape of the face using non-surgical methods.
Cheek augmentation or cheek enhancement is a non-surgical procedure which adds structure and volume to the cheeks and cheekbones to give you a sleek, defined and sculpted look using popular and safe hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Cheek filler treatment uses dermal filler to add volume to the cheek area, creating the appearance of higher and more contoured cheekbones, and a sleeker, slimmer, more defined face overall.
The treatment is quick and comfortable, with very little recovery time and few side effects, so it won’t need you to take up to two weeks away from your life and responsibilities, unlike traditional surgical enhancements.
Dermal fillers are so popular as they are an incredibly safe injectable treatment. They aren’t permanent, are subtle, natural-looking and buildable, and only require local anaesthetic in the form of a numbing cream which is applied before treatment at the injection site. They are also biodegradable as the main ingredient, hyaluronic acid, occurs naturally in the body and is broken down by your own natural systems over time.
Generally, if your cheeks or the sides of your face have lost some volume, leaving your face looking disconcertingly droopy as a result, you can take heart that these injectable fillers would be able to replenish lost volume and so discernibly ‘fill in’ these sunken areas.
All the same, it is worth heeding that, though the face tends to lose volume with age, genetics is actually a larger culprit than age in this case. Hence, if you were born with high cheekbones, you should probably forgo this particular cosmetic treatment.
Injectable fillers are, however, not recommended for people with bleeding disorders. You should also not consider these fillers if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under the age of 22 – as, according to the Food and Drug Administration in the US, the safety of dermal fillers for people in any of these three particular categories has not been proved.
If you are interested in receiving cheek fillers here at Revolution Aesthetics, we will – at no charge – hold a cheek filler consultation with you beforehand in order to ascertain your suitability for the treatment.
As a result, these fillers can give the face extra volume in a way that looks natural – in keeping with our mission to enhance, rather than hide, facial features with which each patient at our clinic was born.
Hyaluronic acid is also capable of holding as many as a thousand times its own weight in water. Hence, this substance is especially well suited to helping patients recompense cheek volume loss – and, in the process, make a wide array of facial wrinkles less noticeable.
These include smile lines, frown lines and both static and dynamic wrinkles. As cheek fillers are a non-invasive treatment, they also do not require as much recovery time as conventional surgery.
If, in the rare instance, you dislike the results of cheek filler treatment - for example, if they have obscured your previously flawless bone structure - as the fillers’ effect is only temporary, you can simply wait for the hyaluronic acid to disintegrate in your body.
Here at Revolution Aesthetics, we offer cost-effective cheek filler treatments in Manchester for our highly valued client base. We carry out each procedure with diligence and the utmost precision, ensuring that each of our clients walks away 100% satisfied with their results.
Like any other dermal filler procedure, cheek filler treatment is usually safe if carried out by a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner. Therefore, before receiving the treatment from any given practitioner, you should not be afraid to ask about their credentials. You should also ask them about the possible side effects of the treatment. You can avoid common risks of side effects by avoiding wearing makeup straight after the procedure and temporarily keeping away from the sun as well as alcohol and coffee consumption.
Rare risks of dermal filler injection can nonetheless include infection and scarring. There is also the rare but serious risk of vascular occlusion, where the filler is accidentally injected into a blood vessel, resulting in blocked blood vessels and, potentially, permanent blindness. At Revolution Aesthetics, we ensure that you receive all the information at every step. Our qualified and trained practitioners are experts at what they do - and it is important to us that you not only receive the results that you want, following your treatment, but also that you are safe and comfortable throughout.
Our treatment is safe, with very few side effects. Before your treatment commences, one of our medical professionals will discuss your goals with you before asking about your medical history and any relevant allergies. This will ensure that the treatment is safe to go ahead with minimal risk of any complications or reactions. Our cheek augmentation and fillers treatment also require very little recovery time, making it safe to go about your day-to-day life soon after the treatment has been completed.
Whilst some people are interested in our treatment, they often worry that the results will not look natural and will be noticeable. Here at Revolution Aesthetics, we are passionate about providing subtle results that are completely natural and enhance your existing features. At your consultation, we’ll take the time to learn about your desired outcome, so that we can provide a tailored treatment to deliver the ideal results. We will never overtreat any of our patients and our fillers aren’t permanent either - they are therefore buildable over time depending on your desired look.
Our commitment to ensuring a truly natural look with our cosmetic treatments means that we always place cheek fillers in contact with the bone. This is because we are aware that, otherwise, the face could be left with something of a strange, doughy look that comes across as far from natural.
Typically, you can expect these fillers to remain for around 9 to 12 months from the time of application. In practice, however, the duration of their effectiveness can depend on various factors – including the patient’s own genetic makeup.
There are certain lifestyle changes you can make to help lengthen how long your cheek fillers stay intact before top-up treatment is required. For example, if you smoke or drink, you could try to give up these habits – and switching to a more nutritious diet can also play a positive part.
In many instances, the worse your all-round lifestyle, the sooner your body could burn away hyaluronic acid previously injected into your body as a result of fillers.
One exception to this rule is that serious athletes with very high metabolisms could need top-ups about a month or two sooner than dermal filler recipients with more sedentary lifestyles.
As a general rule, though, you should arrange to receive follow-up filler treatment roughly 9 to 12 months after your initial injection of filler on the cheeks.
There’s nothing unusual about a face swelling after receiving cheek fillers; so, don’t be too worried if, when you first see yourself in the mirror post-treatment, your face looks like it’s been overly lifted. It can take as long as five days for your face’s newfound volume to settle.
Once it has settled, though, you could be pleasantly surprised by how the treatment has struck just the right balance with lifting your face. There are many easy-to-overlook benefits of cheek fillers; these fillers are, for example, capable of reducing shadow under the eyes, softening the appearance of recessed scars and filling in static wrinkles.
Though static wrinkles usually result from the skin losing both collagen and elasticity over time, hyaluronic acid injections can fill empty space left between the skin’s collagen and elastin fibres. The treatment can also help to maintain fullness due to the acid’s ability to attract and bind water.
Exactly what difference cheek fillers bring will be affected by where on the cheek they are administered. Filler placed in the higher cheekbone area can replicate the look of contour makeup, with light seeming to hit the cheek perfectly.
However, if you currently see deeper lines near your nose and mouth, injections should be made at the larger part of your cheek. When we hold a cheek fillers consultation with you, we will ask you if your face has any specific deep wrinkles and lines that particularly trouble you.
We can then tailor the cheek filler treatment accordingly or recommend an alternative form of treatment. You could perhaps consider our SuneKOS anti-ageing treatment, which stimulates collagen production. Even just a lifestyle change can suffice for reducing wrinkles.
Once you have booked your cheek filler treatment, the dermatologist will advise you on how to prepare for it. You will need to avoid blood thinners in the two weeks before the treatment and avoid alcohol in the two days before.
In the treatment room, the practitioner is likely to coat your skin with an anaesthetic cream before the treatment proper in order to reduce any pain or discomfort.
When the filler itself is injected, you shouldn’t feel anything worse than just a little pressure. Once all of the necessary injections have been made, you will be given some ice to help you numb any immediate swelling.
