How Long Will Fillers Typically Last?
The longevity of facial fillers depends on the type of filler used, the area treated, and individual factors like metabolism, lifestyle, and skin type.
We have compiled a general guide:
Lips
- Typical Filler Type: Hyaluronic acid (e.g., Juvederm, Restylane)
- Duration: 6–12 months
- Lips move a lot (talking, eating, smiling), which breaks filler down faster.
Cheeks / Midface
- Typical Filler Type: Hyaluronic acid (e.g., Juvederm)
- Duration: 12–24 months
- This area of the face experiences less movement and more structural support, fillers here also stimulate collagen over time.
Under Eyes -Tear Troughs
- Typical Filler Type: Softer hyaluronic acid (e.g., Restylane-L)
- Duration: 9–18 months
- The eye area has thin skin and slower metabolism, but the product must be subtle to avoid puffiness.
Nasolabial Folds – Smile Lines
- Typical filler type: Hyaluronic acid
- Duration: 9–18 months
- This area moves with facial expression frequently but not as much as lips.
Jawline / Chin
- Typical filler type: Firmer HA (e.g., Volux, Restylane Lyft)
- Duration: 12–24 months
- Chin area has minimal movement and we use a thicker filler for structure.
Individual factors that may affect Filler duration:
- Clients with a faster metabolism → this may cause the filler to break down sooner.
- High physical activity → may shorten lifespan of the filler.
- Sun exposure & smoking → this can degrade the filler faster.
- Area with more movement (like lips) → may have a shorter duration
